Who is Debanjan Deb? Fake IAS Officer Has Been Arrested By Kolkata Police

There has been a really bizarre case as a person naming Debanjan Deb who has lied to his family about him becoming an IAS officer and the person has gone on to organize fake vaccination camps and has paid a salary to his employees and has also rented the office and this has been stated by one of the officers on Friday.

Who is Debanjan Deb?

The person has been arrested by the Kolkata police as he has been caught impersonating one of the joint commissioners who is working for the Kolkata municipal corporation and he has been doing this for the past 4 months and he has made a fool out of many people as he managed to take several lakhs from the people as he promised them that he is going to be a helping hand to them so as to get tenders and this has been stated by an officer in the initial probe.

It has been stated that the man who is 28 years old has managed to come in contact with many of the political leaders and many of the police officers as he has been a part of many social cause events, it has been stated by the IPS officer that 4 other people have been called out for the questioning.

The backstory of the person is that he was an aspirant to become an IAS but he couldn’t crack the examination of UPSC and he has told the authorities that in the year 2018 he has lied to his family that he has become an IAS officer, he has further stated to the authorities that he made a good fortune in the lockdown as he has been selling masks and has been selling PPE kits for the past last year but he did not do it by showing himself as the Joint Commissioner of KMC.

One of the cops has stated that the guy rented an office in Kasba, he even hired a vehicle and recruited several men to make it look as official as possible, he further stated that he even came in contact with many of the contractors at the KMC and he has allegedly cheated two of them.

Kolkata police have also claimed that he has taken 90 lakhs from one of the people out of which 36 lakhs of that amount has been transferred to a bank account as he promised him the tender of KMC for constructing a stadium and this has been stated by a police officer, it has been found out in his office he had dozens of fake logos and stamps of KMC and was making a fool out of people for about 4 months.
